About Us
What is PVA?
The Pageant Voices Alliance (PVA) Inc. is a federally and provincially incorporated organization dedicated to empowering individuals within the pageantry community. Our mission is to elevate advocacy, foster leadership, and create a supportive network for former finalists and titleholders.
Why We Started PVA?
As founding members, several us found that one of the most significant gaps observed is a an existential matter of “what am I doing this pageant for” and worse “what do I do after the pageant is over?” Many participants, overwhelmed by the glamor, often forget the core values of pageantry – personal growth, community service, and advocacy. The essence of participating in a pageant is not just about winning a crown; it’s about using the platform to advocate for causes close to our hearts and to inspire others to do the same.
Understanding Real Advocacy: Many queens enter pageants with the desire to make a difference, but often lack the tools and knowledge to effectively advocate for their chosen causes. True advocacy requires a deep understanding of the issues, planning, and consistent effort. It’s not just about a title; it’s about the ongoing commitment to making a positive impact.
Navigating the Industry: The pageant industry can be daunting, especially with the presence of those who prioritize profit over genuine support. Fake groomers, designers, and opportunists can divert our focus from our true goals. It’s crucial to have a network of trusted individuals who can provide guidance, support, and resources to help us stay true to our mission.
Maintaining the Essence of Participation: With so much happening around us, it’s easy to lose sight of why we participate in pageants in the first place. The excitement of the competition, the allure of the crown, and the pressure to conform can overshadow the real purpose – personal development and making a difference in our communities. We must remember that our participation is an opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute meaningfully.
The PVA aims to:
- Foster Collaboration: Bring together queens and titleholders to collaborate on common causes, share resources, and amplify our impact.
- Provide Training and Development: Equip members with the skills and knowledge needed to be effective advocates and leaders.
- Support Community Engagement: Encourage and support members in their community projects and initiatives.
- Create a Network of Mentors: Establish a mentorship culture where experienced members guide and support newcomers.
